Robert was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. He attended the University of Texas in Austin. He moved to Brownsville in 1975 and began his career as a life insurance agent with Connecticut Mutual Life. Banks, Brokerage Houses and Insurance companies transformed themselves into institutions offering multiple types of products and services during the late 1970s and agents and brokers changed with them into Financial Advisors, offering insurance and investments. Robert obtained his security registrations Series 6, 63 and 22 during this time, as well as his life and property and casualty licenses.

He has practiced as a financial professional for 41 years and has experience in helping businesses with succession strategies, retirement strategies, health insurance (including navigating Obamacare and healthcare legislation), and retention strategies for key employees and employee benefits. He also has experience in helping families with their personal risk management and investments, and education funding for their children and grandchildren. He has clients all over the state of Texas and especially in the Rio Grande Valley.

Robert married Betty Turner in 1975 after she finished her Masters at UT Austin. They have two children, George and Elizabeth and a grandchild named Wesley. Betty retired after thirty years with Brownsville ISD. They are both active in Church of the Advent, Episcopal. In addition Robert graduated from Leadership Brownsville Class III, was Chairman of Leadership Brownsville, Past President of the Boys and Girls Club, Past President of the Episcopal Day School Board, Past President of the Rotary Club of Brownsville, and Past Chairman of the Brownsville Economic Development Council. Robert currently serves on the board of Valley Regional Medical Center, an HCA hospital. Robert spends most of his free time outdoors hunting, fishing, skeet shooting, surfing and jogging.

Robert holds the FINRA Series 6, 63 and 22 registrations, and is a Registered Representative with Securites America, Inc. He also holds the General Lines - Life, Accident, Health and HMO and the General Lines – Property and Casualty licenses with the Texas Department of Insurance.
